Introduced in January 1903 at the Third Annual National Automobile Show in Madison Square Garden, the Cadillac was named after Le Sieur Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, the founder of Detroit. Its single-cylinder, ten-horsepower engine could propel the little car to a top speed 30 miles per hour. The retail price of $750 was considered modest for the era although a rear tonneau that increased its passenger carrying capacity to four could be ordered for an additional $100.
