Although it was as long as a limousine, the 1948 DeSoto Suburban was a medium-priced sedan that was intended for utilitarian purposes such as carrying luggage, sports equipment and camping gear both on the roof and inside. The Suburban’s association with family travel was so strong that the producers of the Happy Days television series selected a similar car to be parked in the Cunningham’s driveway.
