LeGrand Jordan was one of the first California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers. He developed the Jordan Twin Crank Four to overcome the shortcomings of the motorcycles rode on the job. The Jordan engine uses twin crankshafts that rotate in opposite directions for better balance. The streamlined pressed-steel body also serves as the frame. Jordan built this one example to show potential manufacturers. None were found who were interested in production of the innovative, though complex, design.
