Hollywood legend James Garner passed away in his home this weekend at the age of 86. He was believed to have passed away from natural causes.
Garner was best known for various television and movie roles such as Jim Rockford in The Rockford Files and Duke from The Notebook, but it was playing the role of Pete Aron in the 1966 film Grand Prix that ignited his love for racing.
James Garner wasn't just a spectator either. He competed in the Baja 500, drove the pace car three times at the Indy 500 and owned part of the American International Racers team The AIR team fielded cars for famous endurance races such as Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans.
This Thursday (7/24) we will show Grand Prix at 7:00pm in honor and to celebrate the life of James Garner. Admission is free. Please email Sandy at Sscott@Petersen.org to RSVP.
