C. 1941 Dreyer Cannonball Baker Race Car

Second Floor - Industry

Cannonball Baker Race Cars were slightly larger versions of Dreyer Racers, both of which were built by legendary driver Floyd “Pop” Dreyer. Named in honor of his friend and fellow driver Erwin “Cannonball” Baker, they are easily distinguished from the smaller Dreyer Racers by large cowl labels. In addition to selling complete automobiles, Dreyer sold $1 car build plans, from which he made more money than manufacturing entire vehicles. In 1950, Dreyer marketed an updated version of his Dreyer Racer, called the Dreyerette “Drive-It-Yourself Car.”
