c. 1942 Junior Midget "Plexi Flyer"

Second Floor - Industry

Founded by auto parts dealer Joe Lucas and Lou Fageol, son of the California-based truck manufacturer, the Junior Midget Motor Car Company of Los Angeles series produced racers styled after the “midget racers” used by adults in serious racing. The Plexi Flyer employed an aluminum frame and a molded plexiglass body, materials also used on war planes of the era that were built in Southern California. The green-painted metal step plates inboard of both rear wheels were used by amusement park attendants to stand on when parking the car at the end of a ride.
