1942 Vanguard Special Rocket
Second Floor - Industry
Produced by the Great Lakes Tractor Co., the Vanguard Special Rocket was a speedster designed for “private property use.” It was available in kit form or as a complete car, which early ads claimed could comfortably seat two. The vehicles were named after the Vanguard rocket, which was developed in part to launch America’s first satellite into orbit. Later cars were called simply Vanguards or Vanguard Midgets.
