1951 Fiat 1400 Vignale Cabriolet

Third Floor - History

In order to satisfy the segment of the new car market that demanded the ultimate in individuality, more manufacturers (including Fiat) gave buyers the option of purchasing an otherwise standard chassis without a body so that it could be sent to a specialty firm such as Pinin Farina, Ghia or Vignale for the fitting of one-of-a-kind coachwork.  One such car, this dramatic Fiat 1400 by Vignale was so highly regarded that it was selected to appear on the cover of the February 1953 issue of Motor Trend magazine and was later driven on screen by Kirk Douglas in The Racers.
