1960 Chevrolet Corvette

Second Floor - Industry

After successfully campaigning cars of his own design at Le Mans during the 1950s, American sportsman Briggs Cunningham returned to the famous circuit in 1960 with three fuel-injected Corvettes and a goal of outright victory. Though there was no official support by the factory because of the manufacturers’ racing ban, Chevrolet engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov covertly provided assistance to the American team in order to prepare the cars for the historic event. The team finished a remarkable first in class and eighth overall.
