1960 Mitsubishi 500 A10
Second Floor - Industry
The Mitsubishi 500 compact family car was introduced to the Japanese market in 1960. Seeking simplicity and rationality in design, the 500 utilizes a monocoque body construction and rear-engine/rear-wheel-drive layout. Making use of the technology at the time, it was the first Japanese car to be tested in a wind tunnel. Later versions of the 500, including the Super Deluxe, contained a more powerful engine and placed well in races, including the 1962 Macau Grand Prix.
