1961 Harvester Scout 80

The Vault presented by Hagerty®

International Harvester started building farming trucks and pickups in 1907, but offered the Scout 80 in 1961 as a more civilized competitor to the Jeep CJ. This example is the twenty-second Scout produced and is configured as a half-cab pickup with a fold-down windshield and sliding side windows. Later Scouts were available with removable full-length tops and four-wheel drive, a surprisingly popular option. The Scout’s adaptability and approachable style made it a precursor to modern SUVs.
