1966 AAR Eagle

Second Floor - Industry

Builder: All American Racers

This race car was the first Indy Eagle constructed by Santa Anna-based All American Racers (AAR), and one of six built to compete in the 1966 Indianapolis 500. At the start of the race 33 entrants lined up, but a pile-up during the first lap quickly eliminated 11 cars, including Gurney and his brand new Eagle. Race car designer and engineer Len Terry developed the design of the Indy Eagle, which was based on the Indy-winning, rear engine Lotus 38.
