Builder: Don Long

Piloted by Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, the AA/fuel dragster made history with four quarter-mile runs in the six-second range at the NHRA Springnationals in 1967. Expert chassis builder Don Long crafted the 176-inch frame from chromoly tubing at his shop in Gardena, California and Southern California engine builder Ed Pink built the powerplant. The engine, originally developed for NASCAR racing, was a Ford 427 Cammer with steel built rocker arms, aluminum arms, aluminum rods and pistons, and copper head gaskets made by Pink.
