1998 Nissan R390 GT1

After a four-year absence, Nissan Motorsports (NISMO) returned to the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1995. Based on previous “Group C” race cars, its R390 GT1 debuted in 1997 and also competed in 1998. Its best finish was an impressive third overall and represented the highest rank for a Japanese driver at the time. This R390 GT1 is a one-off roadgoing version created to meet the homologation requirements of its class at Le Mans. While this example has remained under Nissan’s ownership, such “race cars for the road” are hotly pursued by collectors for their scarcity and incredibly high performance.
