2018 Ford GT

Ford stunned spectators at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit by unveiling a new Ford GT, the successor to its 2005 GT and 1960s GT40 race and road-car series. Unlike its predecessors, the new GT uses a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6. The car is made of carbon fiber, and its advanced aerodynamic form lets air pass through the body as well as around it. When the GT entered 2016 production, it commemorated 50 years since Ford’s original GT40s took first, second and third places at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The Heritage edition, released in 2018, pays homage to the GT40 Mark IV race car driven to victory by Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt at the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans.
