Member Spotlight: Todd Blue

From a single brown Porsche to an Auto Group with locations across America, Todd Blue’s life-long passion for cars has opened doors and created friendships around the world

It only takes one car to change the direction of your entire life. For Todd Blue, that car was a brown Porsche 911 Targa his father purchased in 1979. He didn’t know it then, but that 911 would lead to a passion for the marque. He would go on to buy a Porsche of his own, then another, then a Porsche dealership, then three Porsche dealerships. Today, Blue is the founder and CEO of indiGO Auto Group with 16 dealerships dotting the United States - all because of that brown 911 Targa.

Blue’s career began in the steel industry. After years of metals trading, scrap recycling, and even working with railroads, he decided to pursue his passion and break into the automotive industry, founding indiGO Auto Group in 2006. Over the last 12 years, he turned that business into an auto empire with a variety of dealerships in St. Louis, Houston, Rancho Mirage, and Palm Springs.

Though Porsche is his first love, Blue also has a soft spot for American manufacturers. His first car was a 1984 Camaro and one of his favorite classics is his 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe, which he recently showed at the Louisville Concours d’Elegance. His auto group offers a diverse selection of brands including Lamborghini, McLaren, Rolls-Royce, and Bentley, among others.

Despite the variety of cars at his dealerships and in his garage, it’s the Porsches that always seem to draw him back. Not one to pass up a great opportunity, Blue’s entire Porsche collection is painted various shades of blue. From a Midnight blue Carrera GT to a Riviera blue 993 Carrera RS, and a 1 of 1 PTS blue 996 Turbo S Lightweight, Blue’s collection represents the best, and rarest, Porsche has to offer.

This past April, Blue unveiled his freshly restored Porsche 959 at Luftgekühlt. The Canepa-built car now holds pride of place in his garage and is, of course, finished in blue.

Blue was introduced to the Petersen and the world of classic cars by friend and mentor Jim Patterson. Since joining the Checkered Flag 200 as a lifetime member, Blue has enthusiastically attended several exhibit openings, panel discussions, and always takes time to connect with members at concours events or auctions.  He is passionate about the museum’s goal to educate and entertain enthusiasts, regularly bringing his children to the museum to share his love of the automobile with them. For Blue, cars represent business, pleasure, family, and friends all in one. At its core, this is what the CF200 and the Petersen is all about.
