Phil Morrison found his Promodet/RWB 964 Turbo through a picture that was going through one of the large auction houses in Japan. He instantly fell in love with it. “The 964 and specifically the Turbo body has always been my favorite shape of the 911,” said Morrison. Morrison didn’t quite know what made this specific 964 stand out from the rest until he discovered that it was one of the original RWB widebody cars. This 964 was “built by tining company Promodet in 2008 with bodywork crafted by Akira-Nakai’s own hands at Rauh Welt Begfrriff in Japan.”
Unfortunately for Morrison, he missed out on his chance to buy the 964 at auction, as it had been sold behind the scenes to a private trader. After two months of tracking it down, “and another month of negotiating a deal,” it was done. Morrison had his 964 Turbo.
“Myself and my wife flew to Japan to collect the car. We drove it 1,000Km, visiting sites along the way from Fukushime perfecture to Osaka docks, where we loaded it into a container to arrive in the UK six weeks later. “
Morrison documented his whole trip on the Driftworks YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/IteZij9qDFg
