The Petersen Automotive Museum opened its doors on June 11, 1994.  Founded by Robert E. Petersen, a publishing magnate, and his wife Margie Petersen, the museum has become the center for automotive thought and history, a haven for automotive enthusiasts.

On June 16, 2019, we celebrated the Petersen’s 25th anniversary with a block party!  100 show cars worthy of the Petersen Perfection Award loaded into P3 to park alongside some of our very own crown jewels, including the Round Door Rolls Royce.  The car show was accompanied by family-friendly educational activities, including a build your own hot rod station, an 8-foot miracle mile coloring sheet, chalk areas, go-kart racing, balloon animals, and more!  KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez provided music for all ages, as we celebrated 25 well into the evening with 2000 of our closest friends, family, and neighbors. The night capped off with a historical projection that highlighted some of the Petersen’s greatest hits.
