It all started back when I was 8 years old. I always loved cars and loved the unique different style of every other car. In 2001 when the first Fast and the Furious movie came out the Supra in that movie completely caught my attention. It wasn’t until a few years after that movie, when I was about 10 years old, that I found out the car was a Toyota!
For a few years, I didn’t know what car it was, but I was already in love with everything about the car. Since then those cars have a special place in my heart, especially after the second movie came out (2 Fast 2 Furious). I feel that those cars were so advanced for their time and have such great body lines and style which make the car very unique.
The platform of the 2jz engine twin turbo inline 6 makes tons of reliable power. Adding plenty of aftermarket support makes the car even more special. Around 2018, last year, I came across a beautiful Royal Sapphire Pearl 1997 Supra parked outside a local Starbucks one evening and found the owner sitting right in front of it; we had a little chat. The owner loved the car very much and mentioned he was going to sell it soon due to financial issues. I had taken his contact info and added him on Facebook to keep in touch.
About a week later I sold everything I owned, all my cars and little things, everything I had worth money and immediately called the owner of the Supra. He gave me a great price for the car; I still paid a little over 40,000$ for a car from 1997 with over 100k miles. It’s a factory turbo car, Targa top, all original with nice fresh seals, and little did I know the car was extremely modified under the hood, cranking out an outstanding 900hp out of the factory 2jz engine that was still untouched.
A completely stock motor with a single turbo conversion and a few supporting modifications have the car pushing good numbers. I am very happy with the car and I have all the fun in the world with it. I don’t think I would ever see myself selling it in the future since I loved this car at such a young age. I am also looking for another Supra to add to the collection because the only thing better than having one Supra is having a second one.
