1984 Duesenberg Ii Model SJ
This movie car appeared in Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 classic The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Parting with the book, which depicted Gatsby’s car as a 1922 Rolls-Royce, Luhrmann chose an early-1930s Duesenberg for the film. He selected this Duesenberg II, a modern reproduction of the Model SJ, because it looked authentic, but was less expensive, more reliable and easier to maintain than a period vehicle thanks to its late model Ford V-8 engine and transmission.
