Join us March 14 for the Official Public Opening of our newest exhibition: A Fast & Furious Legacy: 25 Years of Automotive Icons.
This isn’t just an opening—it’s a full-throttle celebration of a franchise that defined generations. The day kicks off in the Petersen Parking Garage, transformed into a Fast & Furious–style car show featuring enthusiast builds, iconic rides, and unforgettable machines across the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. The 2nd floor pays special tribute to Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift—expect style, speed, and serious JDM energy.
Head inside the museum to experience the exhibition itself, showcasing legendary Fast & Furious vehicles that helped define a generation. About the Event
The Little Sparks workshop series is a fun, interactive way for your Little Sparks (ages 3–6) to explore the world of cars. Join us on the third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to play games, create artwork, and explore the museum collection. Sessions begin every hour—please check in on the fourth floor of the museum. The workshop is free with the purchase of museum admission.
This month’s theme is Cars + Wildlife on Saturday, March 21st, from 9 am to 12 pm. Join us for a wild adventure where nature meets engineering! Hop on over to the Petersen for a chance to have a roaring good time.

Introducing our brand-new Shop Tour, an exclusive experience led by one of our expert docents, designed for just 25 guests per week. This immersive two-hour guided journey offers a rare glimpse into our renowned Vault and, for the very first time, grants access to our workshop.

Start your engines! The Petersen Junior Concours returns for its third year, inviting young creators in grades K–12 to imagine the future of racing.
This year’s theme, Motorsport Reimagined, challenges students to dream big — from cutting-edge speed machines to bold, eco-powered concepts that could change the track forever. The sky’s the limit.
Participants will compete in three divisions:
K–3rd Grade
4th–7th Grade
8th–12th Grade
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, families, friends, and supporters are invited to the Junior Concours Showcase at the Petersen Automotive Museum to celebrate the creativity and hard work of these young designers.
The day will feature a special live panel with the RacerX² Team — Alexis Lam, Winter Wei, Amelia Lau, and Isabella Ta — sharing insights on innovation and motorsport.
Entries will be reviewed by an esteemed judging panel including Laura Fisher, Dana Williamson, Jonee Eisen, and renowned automotive designer Franz von Holzhausen.
Guests can also participate by voting for the Spectators’ Choice Award before we close the day with a celebratory awards ceremony recognizing standout designs.
Whether you're competing, cheering from the crowd, or simply inspired by the next generation of automotive visionaries, the Junior Concours Showcase is a celebration of imagination, innovation, and the future of motorsport.
Meet The Judging Panel
Franz von Holzhausen, Chief Designer at Tesla
As Tesla's Chief Designer since 2008, Franz von Holzhausen has led the design of every major vehicle from the Model S to the Cybertruck. He also oversees Tesla Energy products and recent autonomous innovations like the Cybercab and Optimus. Recognized as a top global designer, his career includes influential work at Volkswagen, General Motors, and Mazda.
Laura Fisher, Chief Archivist
As Chief Archivist at the Petersen Automotive Museum for nearly a decade, Laura oversees the preservation of one of the world's largest automotive history collections. She manages millions of artifacts, from historic photography to rare ephemera, ensuring the "stories behind the cars" are protected for future generations.
Jonathan Eisen, Associate Curator
As Associate Curator at the Petersen Automotive Museum, Jonathan Eisen brings automotive history to life by curating world-class exhibits and researching the world's most iconic vehicles. He is a prominent face of the museum’s YouTube channel, where his deep technical knowledge and storytelling skills engage a global audience of enthusiasts.
Dana Williamson, Director of the Collection
As Director of the Collection at the Petersen Automotive Museum, Dana Williamson is the primary steward of over 300 world-renowned vehicles and motorcycles. A true "mechanical man" with a background as a stunt pilot and race car restorer, he is one of the few people trusted to drive the most valuable cars in the collection.

Join us for the Detailing Workshop where passion meets precision. Through hands-on sessions led by industry experts, explore the latest techniques and cutting edge products that help bring your car to life.
For those eager to share this knowledge with the next generation, the workshop invites participants ages 12+ to accompany their guardians, offering a unique opportunity for young enthusiasts to delve into the world of automotive care. Guardians accompanying minors but not participating in the class do not need a ticket.

About the Event
A Moving Celebration of American Automotive History
This isn’t just a parade—it’s a living timeline of the American automobile.
The procession will feature 50 carefully selected vehicles representing key moments in automotive history, from competition machines that dominated racetracks to cars that became icons of popular culture.
The parade will travel under full escort, creating a striking and memorable spectacle as these historic vehicles make their way from Los Angeles’ automotive heart at the Petersen to the Pacific Ocean.
Along the route, fans, families, and enthusiasts will have multiple viewing opportunities to watch the cars pass by and experience this unique moment in automotive history.
And because this is the Petersen, a few surprises may appear along the way.
The Celebration Continues at Santa Monica Pier
When the parade reaches the Santa Monica Pier, the celebration continues.
Visitors will have the chance to see the vehicles up close, take photos, and enjoy a relaxed gathering celebrating the culture and stories behind these remarkable machines.
It will be a chance for families, enthusiasts, and visitors from around the world to come together at the end of Route 66 and celebrate the cars—and the country—that defined the open road.
Part of a Year of Celebration
This parade is one of several major initiatives led by the Petersen Automotive Museum to celebrate the twin anniversaries of America 250 and Route 66’s Centennial, exploring the history of the United States through the lens of the automobile.
From racing innovation to Hollywood legends and cross-country road trips, the car has always been central to the American story.
On July 12, that story comes to life—rolling down the streets of Los Angeles.

Our February Cruise-In is open to everyone—car lovers, families, and friends alike. Join us starting at 9:00 AM for a relaxed and welcoming morning surrounded by the automotive community. Stroll the lot and check out a wide variety of seriously cool rides, from classics to modern favorites, while connecting with fellow enthusiasts.
We’ll kick things off with free coffee and bagels to get the day started right. Guests also have the option to explore the museum with the purchase of admission, making it the perfect opportunity to enjoy both the cars outside and the stories inside.
For those bringing a vehicle to display, be sure to stick around—awards will be given to select participants as a thank-you for sharing your ride with the community.

About the Event
The Little Sparks workshop series is a fun, interactive way for your Little Sparks (ages 3–6) to explore the world of cars. Join us on the third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to play games, create artwork, and explore the museum collection. Sessions begin every hour—please check in on the fourth floor of the museum. The workshop is free with the purchase of museum admission.
This month’s theme is Build A Car on Saturday, February 21st, from 9 am to 12 pm.

Low Sensory Mornings @ the Petersen
About the Event
Low Sensory Mornings are a new accessibility initiative at the Petersen Automotive Museum, designed to create a more comfortable and inclusive experience for guests who benefit from reduced sensory input. These mornings will be held quarterly, featuring lowered volume and dimmed lighting throughout the exhibits. Guests can enjoy this sensory-friendly environment for one hour before the museum opens to the public at 10 a.m., when regular sound and lighting levels will resume. During this time, the Discovery Center will also be open for exploration.

The Mini Motors workshop series is a hands-on adventure for your kids (ages 7-11) to explore the world of cars. Join us on the first Saturday every other month from 9 am to 10 am for a journey filled with experiments, cool art projects, and a chance to explore the awesome car collection at the museum. Step into a time machine and blast back to the radical 80s and 90s! Catch fashion straight out of your nostalgia dreams, designed by the talented ASU FIDM students. Feeling brave? A lucky few will hit the runway alongside the designers themselves.
Then it’s time to break out your flyest moves, because we’re turning up the hits from the 80s and 90s for an epic dance party you won’t want to miss. Leg warmers, neon, chokers, denim—bring it all and get ready to party like it’s 1989… or 1999!
Light refreshments, including Wine & Beer will be served. Must be 21+ to drink alcohol. 2 drinks maximum per guest.

Fashion Students from ASU FIDM will showcase their designs, followed by a selection of vintage looks. To close the show, attendees who registered in advance may be selected to walk the runway in their own 80s or 90s-themed outfits.
