“I want you to do it. Come on, hit me. Hit me!” - Joker, The Dark Knight (2008)

The Dark Knight Trilogy follows the rise, fall and redemption of Batman (Christian Bale) during his crusade to avenge his murdered parents and protect the citizens of Gotham City.  Following the destruction of the Tumbler Batmobile in a chase with the Joker (Heath Ledger), Batman’s new vehicle of choice became the Batpod.  The lack of protection is balanced by the vehicle’s exceptional mobility while packing an arsenal of dual mounted-cannons, machine guns and grappling hooks.

Conceived by director Christopher Nolan, the Batpod provided a two-wheel alternative to Batman’s usual mode of transportation.  It was designed to be operated with the rider in a prone position and features a custom chassis with Hoosier racing tires and braking system operated by controls on the left handle and right pedal.  One of six built for use in The Dark Knight by Christian Bale (Batman), this example was later used in The Dark Knight Rises by Anne Hathaway (Catwoman).

Fun fact: the engine(s) were mounted in the wheels, not on the frame.
