Originally created by German machine manufacturer Ger. Boehringer in 1948, the Unimog is a line of all-terrain utility vehicles that was acquired by Daimler-Benz AG for the Mercedes-Benz brand in 1951.
This Unimog U 80 T was converted into a "Niederflurhubwagen" ("low-floor elevating truck") by German truck equipment manufacturer Ruthmann and features a unique flexiloader configuration for hauling vehicles.
The rear wheels hydraulically extend outward from beneath the bed, allowing it to be tilted and lowered to the ground so a vehicle can be driven onto the bed without ramps.
The bed can then be tilted back up, and the wheels retract beneath the truck.
