1954 DeSoto Adventurer II Concept By Ghia

Built on a chassis from DeSoto, Chrysler Corporation’s mid-priced brand, the Adventurer II was styled by Ghia designer Giovanni Savonuzzi. Its form drew from Savonuzzi’s “Supersonic” design language, which was first developed for the Alfa Romeo 1900 "Conrero" race car and later applied to the limited-production Fiat 8V. Characterized by smooth sides, low proportions, and aerodynamic simplicity, the dramatic look suggested motion even at rest. Introduced in June 1954 at Chrysler’s proving grounds and later displayed at the Turin Auto Show, reactions were mixed but the Adventurer II has since become one of the most celebrated of the Chrysler-Ghia collaborations.
